Hacienda Buena Vista (Buena Vista Plantation), Ponce

Hacienda Buena Vista is also called Hacienda Vives (or Buena Vista Plantation in English) was a coffee plantation situated within Barrio Magueyes, Ponce, Puerto Rico. The first plantation was established early in the nineteenth century. The plantation was established in 1833 by Don Salvador de Vives.

 The Hacienda is situated on an 81.79 acres (331,000 square meters) of land that comprises a humid subtropical forest about 7 miles (11 kilometres) to the north of Ponce on Route PR-123 located in Corral Viejo and a barrio located in Barrio Magueyes. This plantation home was constructed with a Spanish Colonial style, with the surrounding buildings built using the traditional Criollo style. The original Hacienda comprised the area of 482 cuerdas (approx. 468 acres).

The once important coffee plantation and a small fruit plantation were the backdrops for a unique relationship between water, land, and slavery. The present-day heart of the former plantation has been carefully restored to its historical enclosure, with structures that are over a century of age and a unique hydraulic turbine.

It is owned now through its owner, the Fideicomiso de Conservacion de Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico Conservation Trust), who manages it as a museum that was opened in.

It is the Tres Picachos Coffee Company, founded in the year 1960, was bought at the end of 1999 by the Martinez Rivera family, which has dedicated several years to the cultivation and preparation of the highest quality Puerto Rican coffee.  Hacienda Pomarrosa is the coffee lovers’ ideal place to stay. It’s a coffee plantation that is mingled with a lodge near the foot of the highest mountain on the island. This eco-tourism and agrotourism adventure provides a variety of cabins in which to stay and relax in nature and get acquainted with the signature coffee. 

 Hacienda Pomarrosa is located at an elevation of approximately. 3000 feet in the city of Ponce situated at the base of the tallest mountain within Puerto Rico (Cerro Punta, which is located at 4400 feet). Views from Ponce’s Hacienda are breathtaking. On one side is the highest mountain peak, while on the south side is the broad perspective from the Caribbean Sea with its cooling air that is to be a dream. 

 In addition, they provide an exclusive tour of the process by which their cafe Café Pomarrosa is created. From the beginning of planting to packaging, take a tour of the manufacturing process and, in the end, taste the flavour of the finished coffee drink product. Hacienda Pomarrosa is an active coffee plantation established in 1995. They make premium gourmet coffee. The coffee they harvest is processed at the Hacienda, including roasting and packing. 

 Alongside the coffee they serve, they have the lodge. Its Bed & Breakfast consists of three separate villas as well as two apartments. They are all situated in lush, tropical settings with views of the ocean. The units are stylishly equipped and sleep two guests each. The larger units feature sofa beds that can sleep up to four people.

Hacienda Lealtad often referred to in the form of Hacienda La Lealtad or Hacienda la Esperanza (Lealtad plantation, in English) is an historical coffee plantation in the barrio La Torre, Lares, Puerto Rico. A huge hacienda, it was established in 1830 through Juan Bautista Plumley, a French immigrant who came to Puerto Rico with enslaved people.

Juan Bautista was born in France in 1797 on the 8th of September and was christened Jean Baptiste Henri Plumley.The guests at Hacienda Lealtad begin their visit with a stop at Cafe Bistro, which is known for using local produce and natural juices to make its desserts and dishes.

The next step is into a greenhouse that is on-site where they can learn about the various varieties of coffee seeds and the ways they’re produced. After that, they observe how the plant transforms the coffee seeds into coffee grains. The final stage is in a lab where guests are able to sample the rich flavours of coffee that are available. 

 The tours at Hacienda Lealtad are offered Monday through Thursday between 8 am and 12 pm or 1 pm until 4 pm. Make reservations.
